After you have submitted one or more URLs, you will see a confirmation of receipt on your screen. Your report has then been received and our analysts will start working on it. Meldpunt Kinderporno checks whether the images are punishable. If in doubt, we consult with the police.
If it indeed concerns child sexual abuse material, the Reporting Center takes the following steps:
If the website with the images is hosted in the Netherlands, Meldpunt Kinderporno will inform the company that hosts the website. We send an NTD (Notice & Takedown request) requesting the host to remove the illegal images within 24 hours.
If the website is hosted in another country, Meldpunt Kinderporno will pass on the information to a reporting center in that country. This is done via INHOPE, the international organization of reporting hotlines. The images are places in a database of found child sexual abuse material. This way, all criminal material ends up at the police. The police and Interpol use this so-called hash database to identify victims and perpetrators.
If there is no reporting hotline in the country where the website is hosted, the reporting hotline will pass on the information to the Dutch police. They will then handle the case via Interpol or in another way.
